Steel plant control up grade .

A client, biggest manufacturer of barbed wire and chain links in East Africa had issues with aging process controls.

Increasing demand for their products could not be met as the galvanisation ovens and extrusion lines kept breaking down.

Factory Automation Systems Limited was tasked to investigate and advise the best control systems to adopt  not only to meet the challenges at the time but also to see the company through the future.

After careful consideration, We recommended changing of the oven temperature control from old stand alone temperature controllers to Omron CJ2M plc based and Human Machine interface.

The CJ2M Omron plc was used to monitor and control numerous temperature points and send data to an operator human machine interface .

This efficiently resolved the problems with the ovens.

13 Omron CJ2M plcs were adopted to control the wire extrusion lines and to improve the extrusion process, Vacon NXP variable motor speed drives were used to run the extruder motors.

Overall, a 40% increase in production was realised and much higher quality end products are now being produced.

Grain milling.

A new grain miller tasked Factory Automation Systems Limited to install modern control system for their ready to drink cereals.

After much consultation, a Scada visualisation software and Plc system was installed.

This enabled efficient running of the plant with the help of only a few workers.

Sugar milling plant.

centrifugal machines at a sugar milling plant had been grounded for a number of years due to breakdown of their controllers.

The machine builder in USA had advised the miller that the controllers were obsolete .

Mechanically, all machines were still usable .

After studying the process sequences, Factory Automation Systems Limited installed new Omron Plcs to replace the obsolete Westinghouse controllers .

This gave new life to machines .

Food  processing

Factory Automation Systems Limited has worked with many food based companies in the fields of Juice processing, brewing, and cooking oil refineries.

Soap Processing.

In the past, Factory Automation Systems Limited has installed Plc based and Scada software systems for processing of luxury bathing soap for a Kenyan major manufacturer.
